Fun in the sun at city’s newest play area
Hundreds of people turned out to enjoy a walk along Milton Keynes newest landmark, the Brooklands Ridge, as part of the celebrations for the opening of the new Brooklands Meadows Park and Play Area.

Visitors were treated to a Falconry Display and sizzling Samba
music as part of the festivities, and the herd of giant wooden
animals, reflective of the real-life creatures to be found at the
site, found plenty of new friends among the children who had come
to meet them.
Brooklands, part of the Eastern Expansion, is set in a 360
acre site and will eventually include 2, 500 homes, schools, shops
and offices, all surrounded by landscaped areas, sports facilities
and countryside walks. The green spaces included in the
development are a source of great pride to the man in charge,
Places for People Project Director, Simon Elcock.
He says, "Having somewhere safe and exciting for children to
play is one of the things which make a development like this into a
place where people are happy to live. The Ridge has been
constructed to block out the sound from the motorway and has become
a real amenity where residents and visitors can walk and enjoy the
views of Brooklands. Along with the park and the meadow we hope
residents will have a real sense of being in the countryside inside
the city."
The Brooklands marketing suite and show homes are open seven
days a week from 10.00 am until 5.00 pm. www.brooklandsmk.co.uk
